What is iRest© Yoga Nidra Meditation?

Calm the Busy Mind with iRest© Yoga Nidra Meditation with Val

- 12 hours (over 4 or 6 weeks) with Manual and Recordings - 

iRest, a form of yoga sleep meditation, has been found to be helpful in relieving insomnia, anxiety, PTSD and chronic pain. In this calming course, participants rest in a comfortable lounge chair and are guided through a meditation sequence supporting deep calm. The course explores different yoga techniques for breathing, attention, welcoming and enquiring.
To support your calm mind long after the course completion, recordings and a manual are provided.  Adjustable lounge chairs, cozy blankets and pillows provide support and comfort during class.
Note: A phone interview with Val as to your personal expectations and needs will be conducted before class registration.

Yoga to Calm the Busy Mind

- 90 minute weekly Yoga Class -

This ongoing class supports a calm mind and strong body by exploring physical Yoga movement, focussed breathing, and guided meditation.   Yoga tools of mantras, mudras, chanting and sutras are incorporated into the practice.

New students may attend their first class free.  Returning students require a 6 week drop-in pass.


Individual iRest Meditation Session 

- 1 hour -

An individual Yoga session provides a personal iRest Yoga Nidra meditation, movement, breathing and other Yoga techniques to calm the mind and body.    Each session is designed to provide tools that can be used at home and work to support the calming process.   Sessions are available in person or by Skype.

Calming the Busy Mind with iRest Yoga Nidra is offered as a public information class on a regular basis in Edmonton and St Albert.  Currently classes are offered at the St Albert Community Village / Food Bank and also at the Classical Yoga Centre.    There is a separate class for First Responders and Frontline Workers (Social Workers, Nurses etc).

Morning Retreats with BodySensing and iRest

Every couple months Val offers a 3 hour morning retreat with BodySensing (the movement of the body with awareness) followed by a deep iRest.  Delicious food and refreshments are part of this sensory nourishing morning.  During Retreat there is an opportunity to explore a deeper experience of body and mind calm.  Retreats are open to students who have completed the 6 week Calming the Busy Mind Course and to students and teachers who have experience with iRest.

Marma Yoga (Reflexology Yoga Style)

Marma Yoga uses a combination of Reflexology and Hatha Yoga to relax and restore the body.  An hour of gentle touch therapy on the marma points of the feet, hands and ears combines with a spa-like experience of lotions and comfort.  Val has been a Certified Reflexologist for over 15 years and has combined her love of Reflexology and Yoga to create this therapeutic and luxurious experience.  Limited availability.
